FAQ for Virgins

This is if you're new to Rocky! If you know what the shadowcast is and still have questions, click here.

What's Rocky?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a movie from 1975 about a Midwestern couple whose car breaks down, so they meet up with some aliens in their castle to find a phone. It's a little weird to watch by itself, so some New Yorkers in 1976 yelled at the screen and inadvertently started a tradition. Now, people meet up weekly to yell at the screen and act out the film as it plays.  It's a great way to express yourself and let loose, so feel free to just get enraptured by it. It's like sexy theatrical potato chips; you can't watch it just once.

Why am I a Virgin?

It's just the term for people who haven't seen the show yet. Watching the movie by yourself doesn't count, nor does seeing the play; you have to have seen a shadowcast. We love virgins, so don't be afraid to come just cause you haven't seen it before!

What do I have to dO?

Whatever you'd like! Plenty of virgins just sit back and watch the show for their first time and that's cool. However, if you want to get involved, you can! Heckle the screen, heckle the actors, or get up and dance when everyone else is dancing! We just ask you keep your hands to yourself and don't interrupt the actors acting. Heckling only to shock or upset them also counts as interrupting.

FAQ for Everyone

When/Where is it?

We’ll be coming back this Halloween season. The theater information is included below.

Bow  Tie Cinemas
409-415 14th St
Hoboken, NJ 07306

Is there an age restriction?

Since the film is R-rated, Bow Tie Cinema's standard rules for any R-rated film applies to us as well. We ask you contact the theater at (201) 710-5581 for further information. In addition to those rules, please note that a Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast adds a lot more foul language and references to adult situations. The actors may interact with you directly as well; if you wish to be left alone, we ask you sit in the back half of the theater.

Do you do private shows?

Please email hobokenrhps@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you with more details!
